When To Stop Online Dating And Embrace Becoming An Occasionally Slutty Cat Lady Auntie

First of all, define “cat lady. It is my personal belief that most female cat owners below the age of 40 fall into the “not a cat girl, not yet a cat lady” category. That’s the takeaway from a study by Colorado State University, which found that women are less likely to swipe right — or say yes — to men if they’re posing with a cat in a picture. Scientists showed hundreds of women photos of two men, both men pictured with and without a furry companion. Their responses showed that the men’s luck got noticeably worse when women saw the picture with a cat.

I happened to be awake yet, so I opened the OKCupid app and read this message. He must pay extra to see when someone reads his message, because about 2 minutes later, another message rolled in. I was willing to talk to him, but really wanted some more information before deciding if I was interested in him. I waited 12 hours and responded midday. It might be best to tell me more about you, though. I assumed another message was forthcoming..

Actually, I assumed he wanted me to press for more information. It came through at pm. Keep in mind they are JUST preferences…are you any of them or all 5? I got so much more than I bargained for in asking for more information about him! It does fascinate me how people are comfortable saying things online that they would NEVER say to my face in public. Why not? Are you insecure? Keep talking!

Staring at my half eaten plate of moderately priced American Asian fusion chain restaurant fare, I glanced up at my date to notice he had never stopped talking. Women are less likely to swipe right on male dating app users if they are pictured holding a cat, new research has found. According to a study.

My cat has FIV. And ear cysts. And he drools. A lot. He bites sometimes and he is extremely clingy and he growls at strangers and he loves trying to walk on hot burners and he has one of the most ear-piercing meows in existence. I decided I wanted a cat to help with the loneliness I was feeling at home. I figured having someone lively around would bring up my mood. And I found the most adorable cat online named Jack. Older, kinda shy, had some minor health problems, but the description said he was a total sweetheart.

The next day I trekked to the cat rescue about a half an hour away. She led me to this room filled with somethings all cooing and fawning over these sweet little kittens. Cage after cage of perfect faces, cats in their peak health, cats with beautiful fur and sweet demeanors and loving little paws. I spent a few minutes wandering up and down. Stuck my hand in open cages to greet friendly little cats.

The women were then asked to rate the two men on various attributes, including perceived personality, masculinity, dateability and whether they would consider going out with the person for a short or long-term relationship.

The study found that overall when the man posed with the cat, he was perceived more negatively compared to when he posed without the cat. However, there were some positive traits, with the addition of the cat making the man seem more open and agreeable. Holding a cat also made the man seem more confident and outgoing compared to when he was pictured alone. You can find our Community Guidelines in full here.
