But chances are you’re already guilty of the latest term, ‘Gastbying’ – coined by the Australian model Matilda Dods. To Gatsby someone, according to Matilda, means that you ‘post a video, picture or selfie to public social media purely for a love interest to see it’.
The term comes from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel, The Great Gatsby, in which Gatsby throws extravagant parties purely to try to get the attention of Daisy pictured: the film.
